Description:JOB SUMMARYThe Driver, under the direction and guidance of the Transportation Supervisor, transports residents to various events and appointments both on and off campus. The Driver may also transport staff on site or, in the event of an emergency or unforeseen circumstance, off campus. The Driver operates automobiles, and small and large passenger buses. The Driver presents a positive image of Williamsburg Landing and maintains caring and effective relationships with residents and staff.Must have a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) to be considered for this position.Weekends required. Some evenings/nights required for special events.Base pay rate - $16.00/hr., commensurate with experience.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSPerforms pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and reports any mechanical or electrical failure to the Transportation Coordinator; using own judgment, determines if assigned vehicle is safe to drivePicks up residents or staff at the appointed time and place; escorts residents to the vehicle; helps residents with packages, walkers, wheelchairs or other impediments to easy entry into the vehicleEnsures resident, and wheelchair if in use, are safely secured with seat belt or locking mechanisms before beginning the tripFollows all road safety rules; reports any accident immediately to the Transportation Supervisor; follows Williamsburg Landing procedures for obtaining emergency roadside assistanceCompletes passenger logs and turns them in to the Transportation SupervisorMaintains vehicle cleanliness, comfort, and/or safetyMakes meal deliveries to shut-in residentsEvaluates work processes and methods and submits recommendations for continuous quality improvementAssists in covering extra trips and non-scheduled shifts as neededPerforms other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSMust possess current driving license from the Commonwealth of Virginia and have a good driving record; a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a class A, B, or C with passenger endorsement; a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical is required at the time of hireKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESAbility to speak, read, and write in English; ability to safely and regularly lift up to 50 pounds; ability to exercise sound judgment in the event of an emergency; general knowledge of the roads in the Williamsburg and Hampton Roads area is preferred #NOJT23 Requirements:PI27849c3cfa7d-25660-37456666
