The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintaining, repairing, and operating various types of farm equipment. This role is crucial to ensuring the smooth operation of our farm machinery and overall productivity.Note: The role may flex to 40 hours per week or more during bareroot season September-May, and requires flexibility to work at nights and weekends. During non-peak season, the weekly hours may not reach 40 hours.Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on nursery and greenhouse equipment, including tractors, implements, trucks, fans and motors, irrigation systems, and seed and seedling processing equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and execute timely repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work.
  • Collaborate with the nursery management team to schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain a clean shop and work environment. Replace tools in their proper locations.
  • Assist with nursery operations.
  • Operate and drive farm equipment.
  • Perform frost protection on bareroot crop as needed.Qualifications:
    • Proven experience as a Mechanic or similar role.
    • Experience operating farm equipment.
    • Extensive knowledge of farm machinery and mechanical systems.
    • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues efficiently.
    • Proficiency in operating and driving various types of farm equipment.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
    • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.Preferred Qualifications:
      • Ability to drive trucks, trailers, and forklifts.
      • Experience with greenhouse systems and maintenance.
