currently seeking candidates for a 3 term co-op starting in Fall
2025 (with subsequent sessions in Summer 2026 and Spring 2027) in
the Corporate Nuclear Engineering and Fuel Department's Nuclear
Safety Analysis group located at Dominion's Innsbrook Technical
Center in Glen Allen, VA.The Nuclear Safety Analysis (NSA)
engineering team is responsible for reactor system transient
analyses, containment response analyses, vendor LOCA analyses, fuel
reload analyses and licensing, radiological consequences analyses,
emergency procedure technical bases and setpoints, evaluations of
as-found plant conditions, and 10 CFR 50.59 screens and evaluations
for changes to the plant, safety analyses, and station
procedures.Job Responsibilities:
- Work with an experienced team of engineers to establish and
communicate bounding conditions of safe operation for the reactor
core, reactor coolant system, balance of plant, containment
systems, engineered safeguards, and auxiliary equipment of the
Dominion Energy nuclear units.
- Support the maintenance of plant configurations consistent with
the safety analyses.
- Modify safety analyses in support of plant design changes or
fuel changes.
- Participate in ongoing training and continuous improvement
activities to maintain and enhance our role in supporting safe and
efficient plant operation.Project assignments will be made based on
completed coursework. Tasks will be mentored by experienced
engineers.Qualifications:
- Ability to effectively operate a personal computer and
workstation computer, including standard Microsoft applications and
Linux. Programming skills are desirable.
- Ability to define problems, collect information, evaluate data,
draw valid conclusions, and develop solutions in a time-critical
environment.
- Ability to maintain a professional orientation, communicate
effectively in both written and oral forms, and work effectively in
teams and independently under own initiative.Education Requirements
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or
Mechanical Engineering (with a Nuclear focus) from an ABET
accredited program at a four year college or university.
- Student must have an anticipated graduation in Fall 2026 or
later.
- Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.Other Working ConditionsHybrid -
Monday through Wednesday in person/on site, Thursday and Friday are
