Job Description:
CNC Operators use CNC cutting machines to slice through wood,
plastic, or other materials to create a wide variety of finished
goods. They are responsible for loading raw materials into the CNC
cutter, monitoring its performance, and troubleshooting any issues
that arise. The CNC machine operator position safely performs laser
cutting for a variety of manufacturing products.
Essential Functions
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals

- Perform typical CNC cutting operations.
- Select proper cutting programs and proper fixtures.
- Establish proper stop locations and adjust the blade focal
point.
- Make proper set-ups for cutting operations.
- Perform prescribed maintenance as required.
- Perform all dimensional inspections.
- Detect and report defective materials or questionable
conditions to the supervisor.
- May perform a variety of other tasks as production needs
require.
- Load and unload raw materials and equipment.
- Set up and calibrate accessories and equipment.
- Operate a forklift.
- Perform preventive maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
- Supervise machines as they run and adjust as needed.
- Inspect the finished product to ensure it meets the required
specifications.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but
does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the
department.
Competencies
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Ability to read Blueprints & Schematics.
- Ability to comply with safety guidelines.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Keen eye for details.
- Experience using measurement tools, such as Calipers,
Protractors, Height gauges, and tape measures.
- Maintains production quantities, efficiencies, and quality of
parts fabricated.
- Positive team-based attitude and a willingness to cross-train
on machinery in the fabrication department.
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly
works in a warehouse environment where higher levels of noise,
dust, and activity can be expected. This is a
non-temperature-controlled warehouse where temperatures can be hot
in the summer and cold in the winter. There is frequent exposure to
moving parts.
Physical Demands
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands
to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The
employee must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
without assistance and 51 to over 100 pounds with assistance. The
employee must be able to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Travel Required
- No travel is required.
Required Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Minimum 1-2 years of CNC experience.
- Forklift experience required.
- Ability to lift and move 75 lbs. or more.
- One or more years of Press Brake and Laser experience.
Work Schedule
- Monday through Thursday, 2:30 PM to 12:30 AM
