customers.Greystones is seeking 3 Senior Level Data Scientists to
support the Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) in
their acceleration of the DoD's adoption of data, analytics, and AI
to generate decision advantage from the boardroom to the
battlefield. The role involves designing, developing, and
optimizing AI/ML solutions, collaborating with cross-functional
teams to integrate AI technologies and ensuring scalability and
performance using cloud-based and distributed computing tools like
Apache Spark. Additionally, the position includes managing the full
lifecycle of AI components, conducting research, and applying AI
advancements to enhance products, while maintaining shared
libraries, supporting prototyping strategies, and addressing
data-related challenges.Schedule: Hybrid schedule. 2-3 days a week
in Falls Church, Arlington, or Alexandria.Pay:

- Designs, configures, develops, tests, and maintains informatics
and data science solutions across a broad range of technical
applications.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including data
scientists and software engineers, to incorporate AI solutions from
CDAO or the DoD community into Search Portfolio products as
appropriate.
- Optimizes AI models for performance, scalability, and
efficiency, leveraging cloud-based resources and distributed
computing frameworks, particularly Apache Spark/Databricks, and
adapts code to run on GPU-enabled Kubernetes clusters.
- Keeps up to date with advancements in AI research and applies
relevant findings to enhance Search Portfolio products.
- Manages the full lifecycle of AI/ML components used in Search
Portfolio products, from research and development to deployment and
optimization.
- Uses analytical methodologies to identify data-related
challenges, implement solutions, and assess performance.
- Documents and presents requirements, design options, and
findings to team members and clients.
- Develops strategic data modeling processes, accurately
identifying cause-and-effect relationships.
- Experienced with integrated development environments, data
integration, data visualization, data mining, and analysis
tools.
- Maintains and supports the development of shared libraries and
tools for use across multiple teams.
- Assists in developing a strategy for achieving rapid
prototyping.Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with 7-10 years of experience, or Masters
degree plus 5 years of experience.
- Experience with machine learning fields such as natural
language processing, computer vision, and statistical learning
theory.
- Direct experience with Large Language Models, text embedding,
semantic query, use of generative AI for text, and Retrieval
Augmented Generation (RAG).
- Familiarity with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and
model evaluation techniques for machine learning projects.
- Strong understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning,
reinforcement learning, and neural networks.
- Experience with version control systems like Git.
- Experience in an ML engineer or data scientist role building
machine learning models.
- Experience writing code in Python, R, Scala, and C++ with
documentation for reproducibility.
- Experience using distributed computing environments, such as
Apache Spark or Databricks, for AI/ML workloads.
- Experience handling petabyte-sized datasets, conducting
in-depth data analysis, using data visualization tools, writing SQL
code, and working with GPUs to develop models.
- Experience working with cloud-based data persistence products,
especially RDS PostgreSQL and PostgreSQL extensions such as
pgvector.
- Experience writing and speaking about technical concepts to
business, technical, and lay audiences and giving data-driven
demonstrations.
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.Greystones
