Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) will report to the Lead
ISSO and be responsible for providing cybersecurity support and
ensuring the secure operation of information systems used in the
sustainment of C-17 aircraft. This role focuses on compliance with
DoD and Air Force cybersecurity policies, management of system
security, and the implementation of risk management frameworks
(RMF). The ISSO will work closely with program managers, IT
personnel, system administrators, and maintenance teams to maintain
the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of
aircraft-related systems.Essential Duties and
ResponsibilitiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable

- Cybersecurity and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with applicable cybersecurity frameworks,
policies, and procedures, including NIST, DoD, and Air Force
guidelines.
- Perform vulnerability and compliance scans as required using
DoD approved scanning tools.
- Perform system security audits, vulnerability assessments, and
risk analyses to identify potential security threats.
- Monitor and enforce security controls within eMASS, maintaining
system accreditation under the Risk Management Framework
(RMF).
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of security
authorization packages (e.g., System Security Plans,
POA&Ms).Sustainment Duties:
- Provide cybersecurity support for ongoing sustainment
activities for C-17 aircraft, including software and hardware
upgrades, patch management, and configuration control.
- Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams
to ensure that cybersecurity measures are integrated into
sustainment workflows and system updates.
- Manage security incidents related to information systems
supporting C-17 sustainment, ensuring timely response, mitigation,
and documentation of incidents.System Maintenance and Monitoring:
- Continuously monitor C-17 information systems to detect and
respond to security anomalies, ensuring the system's ongoing
operational integrity.
- Provide technical guidance and support for the secure
configuration, operation, and maintenance of aircraft sustainment
systems. Ensure system backups, redundancy, and disaster recovery
procedures are securely implemented and tested.Compliance and
Reporting:
- Ensure all cybersecurity practices meet compliance standards
outlined in DoD 8500.01 and other relevant directives.
- Prepare and present reports on system security status, risk
assessments, and compliance audits to stakeholders, including
leadership and regulatory bodies.
- Support the development and delivery of security awareness
training and cybersecurity best practices to system users and
maintainers.Collaboration and Communication:
- Serve as a liaison between cybersecurity, aircraft sustainment,
and IT teams to ensure a cohesive and effective approach to system
security.
- Interface with government and contractor stakeholders to ensure
seamless integration of cybersecurity practices with broader
aircraft sustainment efforts.
- Foster a security-conscious culture within the team, ensuring
adherence to security best practices across all activities.Other
duties as assigned.Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity,
Data Science, Information Systems or Computer Science and 5 years
of experience in cybersecurity field.
- Information Assurance Manager (IAM) Level 1 or Information
Assurance Technician Level II in accordance with DoD 8570-01 or
corresponding level under DoD 8140.
- Experience implementing and troubleshooting SIEM and Compliance
scanning tools (e.g., Splunk, ACAS Security Center and Nessus, SCC
SCAP, Solar Winds, STIG Viewer, Vulnerator, etc.).
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and
Word.
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures
within a particular field.
- Related skill areas should include technical writing and
presentation skills.
- Must exhibit high performance and capability to work in a team
environment.
- Must be able to effectively deliver oral presentations to
management and customers.
- Must be able to work independently, with minimal
supervision.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
- Must be willing to work any shift or day of the week as
required.
- Understanding of military protocols and customs is
essential.
- Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security
Clearance.LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most
complex documents.
- Will be required to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries
and complaints.
- Must be able to generate effective oral and written
presentations and proposals on complex subjects.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Must be able to calculate figures and amounts, prices,
commissions, and percentages, and to draw and interpret
graphs.REASONING ABILITY
- Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts,
and draw valid conclusions.
- An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and
attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is
desirable.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and
drawings.SECURITY RESPONSIBILITIESMust comply with all company
security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.
Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all
information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any
information, or afford access, to other employees not having a
need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without
management approval. All government and proprietary information
will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided
resources.
- Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security
Clearance.Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S.
citizens are eligible for this role.Work Environment
- Shop floor environment.
- Will be working in areas with risk of electrical shock from
moving mechanical parts driven by hydraulics under high
pressure.
- Will at times be exposed to the following conditions: extreme
heat, airborne particles, loud noises.Physical DemandsThe physical

- Domestic and international travel as required.
- Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds over head.
- Must be able to walk and/or climb stairs and ladder into a
simulator or airplane cockpit.

device.
- Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or
other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the functioning of
simulators and its surrounding environment.
