Job Description:
OverviewThe Dooley School Principal at St. Joseph's Villa is
responsible for the operational management and oversight of
assigned academies. The role ensures the school operates within the
policies, procedures, and practices of St. Joseph's Villa, while
adhering to regulatory, accrediting, and licensing standards. The
principal is tasked with managing not only the academic operations
but also overseeing the community partners program. The work is
aligned with a psycho-educational model, prioritizing safe,
effective, and ethical practices while fulfilling the mission and
values of the organization.Responsibilities--- Operational
Management: Oversees all operational aspects of the Dooley school,
ensuring compliance with state licensing, accreditation standards,
and the effective delivery of education.--- Health and Safety:
Ensures the health and safety of students.--- Policy and
Compliance: Recommends and implements policies, ensuring adherence
to both St. Joseph's Villa's and VDOE regulatory requirements.---
Community Relations: Serves as a liaison to community agencies,
supporting collaboration and promoting the school's services.---
Leadership in Education: Leads curriculum development, ensuring it
meets educational standards, including state and individualized
learning plans.--- Faculty Supervision: Provides leadership to
faculty in managing classroom environments and implementing
psycho-educational teaching methods.--- Budget and Stewardship:
Manages the school's budget and ensures efficient use of
resources.--- In-Service Training: Develops and presents staff
training to enhance instructional strategies, ensuring teachers can
meet students' individual needs.--- Facility Management: Ensures a
safe, clean environment, including coordinating maintenance and
vehicle management.--- Program Evaluation: Assesses staff, methods,
and resources, recommending improvements as needed.--- Professional
Development: Takes responsibility for own professional development
and supports staff in meeting mandated standards and career
advancement.Qualifications--- Education: MS degree in Education
Administration and Supervision (or related field).--- Experience:
Minimum of five years in teaching or treatment with special
education populations.--- Certification: Virginia State
Post-Graduate Professional Teaching Certificate in at least one
specific disability area and K-12 Administration and Supervision
endorsement.
